Description
I wanted to draw history about the young wood fairy Elanie. She lives in the mystical world of imaginations and dreams.
I tried to show beauty of autumn forest and sensation of lightness.
I used Paintre 7 and Photoshop CS.
I`d like critique on my work.

I only have one complaint about the flowers on the bottom right--they seem a bit too sharp and sort of distracts me from the girl. But otherwise, it is really lovely. Keep up the good work
02/02/05 @981
This background is so damn detailed that it looks like a photo o_O
It also looks a bit puzzeled. Like background and foreground are two different subjects.

Under the laws of perspective - if girl has deviated back and has waved a leg - her leg will be nearer to the spectator.
Therefore it seems slightly big.
Try to make it yourself before a mirror - and you convinced!
I drew a figure of the girl from a nature, but the dress and the forest I have thought up then Border of roses and grasses in the original size ( 34*34 sm) is more soft.
Here I do a little sharpness for gallery image for contours because I wanted to do details not degraded.
Sorry for my bad english

Wow. On the close ups many things looks different than expected. For instance I didn't know that her mouth is open. Sadly you cut out the eyes

As some people mentioned before, I think theres something wrong with the foot... maybe it's about the fingers? hehe can't name it. Doesn't matter much anyway!

02/07/05 @018
There is something wrong with the foot, The toes indicate that it is the wrong foot for that leg. That foot doesn''t make sense because of the position of the knees. Her legs don't looked cross so the big toe should be on the otherside.
02/07/05 @479

@Poshspice - funny you mention "The Swing" by Fragonard - I was thinking the same thing. It's also funny that we see so many crits on the foot being off here - there was also the same talk over the female's legs/feet not fitting right in "The Swing."
...Maybe these large frilly dresses covering up much of the top of the legs will cause akwardness no matter what(?)... either way, great work!
02/07/05 @899
I have seen "The Swing" by Fragonard for the first time today, thanks to your comments.
I was not inspired by this picture - I don`t think, that my work is similar to Fragonard`s picture.
There are completely different forests, an atmosphere, different epoch and the mood of the works
Thank you for the comparison with Linda Bergkwist, it`s very flattering for me, but I think we have absolutely different styles

I do have to agree with the above comments about the quality of lighting on the woman, it appears too harsh and cold (flash-like) compared to the beautiful soft and diffuse lighting that you have throughout the remainder of the painting. The crispness of the flowers in the foreground are not so distracting to me, the do a good job of framing the image. It would be far worse to have it blurred out of focus, or worse, yet, just have some blurry forground dirt and leaves. Ugghh! Thank you for doing it the way you did.
I am trying to make some sense of the foot issue. I think I can see where the intention is for the left foot, and it would work better if not for the crease in the fabric, looking as though there is a leg there, and the crease between two knees. If the crease were painted to appear as one knee and forming a ridge line along the leg, then it would work much better as being the left leg. Either that or you could just reverse the foot and make the world happier.
This piece is a dream to look at, and wonderfully executed. I am jealous.

For once the style doesn't fit your other works displayed in the computer graphic section on your site and your photography is absolutely beautiful and some pictures you have listed there look like paintings with some kind of filter and things.
Also some of the branches on top of the picture look so strange - like erased out.
I think it is still a very beautiful composition - I would just love to be fully convinced it is 100% painted.

I engage computer graphic not for one year.
My style varies - I think, as well as yours.
I draw my works how I want to draw them and as I think necessary to draw .
It`s not interesting for me to draw identical pictures.
I like to try myself in different genres and styles.
My photos are not processed by filters
Probably, you are not well understand in photos and photoart

I have a question...i just got my Intous3 Wacom tablet 9x12 and just want to know if you or any artist sets it up in a certain way to paint or draw better? Meaning is there a special way to setup your wacom or just paint in a default setting and hope for the best?
any suggestion would be helpful...thanks ahead..

-I wish to see a bit more of the foot and leg .. Since the textile has translucence you could emphasize the shape of the leg some more maybe..another option is not to put it at all. but it is just the ear of the camel you know! really nice work though.. Hope to see some more!

My only other gripe with this wonderland pastiche is that there is no evident energy to the movement of the swing. Although, movement is clearly depicted, there is no sense of energy to it. The three-D effect is excellent!

I found this picture on the net, I think it's very similar to your piece...well, is quite the same scene. Have you used it as a reference?
I think that the background in your pic is veery well done, I like it. Her head seems to be a bit big, and I find something wrong with the foot. I like the mood

I have taken the liberty to mirror Fragonards piece agains yours so that the identical symmetry will be more obvious.
Proof?
The tree has identical shapes with a few twigs added and the swing has been moved a bit closer to the trunk. I think the foreground is painted and the girl has been given a new dress. Also shoulder area looks very much like a paintover.
I'm even gonna be so bold as to say that the background is probably an altered photo seeing how you have used Fragonards piece you probably wouldn't think twice about doing something simular with the background.
I truly hope that im wrong about this but the proof seems to overwhelming to ignore.
